The Northwest Indian region runs along the Pacific Ocean coast from southern Alaska to Washington state. Some of the major tribes were the Bella Bella, Chiook, Tillamook, Eyak, Coast Salish, and the Tlingit.
The Northwest Indians had totem poles. They did not have them until the white traders brought them iron tools for carving, then totem poles became very common for the tribes.
